When considered through mathematical manipulations, per capita Ceres weighs in as one of the, if not the, most formidable of all the planets. No longer is Ceres an asteroid. Following the astronomer’s attempts to relegate Pluto to the planetary scrap heap, Ceres received elevation to planetary status, albeit in the dwarf category. Ceres smiles and winks at her perceived stature, “if only they knew!”
Throughout the ages the reigning gods knew of Ceres’ potency. Jupiter took her at her word when she threatened to destroy agriculture and starve the world when her daughter entered the underworld, presumably as Pluto’s prisoner. Jupiter perceived this declaration as no bluff and did his dangest to negotiate a compromise that Pluto and Ceres could both tolerate.
Recently, observations of Ceres suggest the presence of ice - most unusual for the asteroid belt. Conjecture arose that back in the day, Ceres may have been escorted from the Kuiper Belt, out of the realm where Pluto lurks, into the asteroid belt courtesy of the gravitationally grand Jupiter. How mythologically appropriate is that?
Ceres currently stumps on the campaign trail, advocating for a collection of causes she deems most appropriate.
A week and a half out from where we are, come 14 May, Ceres in Capricorn, through relative motion, slows, retrogrades, and squares Chiron in Aries. Two things appear here. First, given Chiron’s association with souls occupying human bodies, she energizes the heated debate over abortion. No doubt this aspect also fuels into the ongoing war protests. Second, and on the personal front, she activates the need for each and every person to assess with the greatest of clarity, what side of the bread is buttered. Ceres and Chiron creatively unify through their ongoing quadrature (there’s another one on 7 November) and insist that each person concisely define personal needs as the ultimate priority to ensure that all acts taken in life consistently support those needs. Not only does this Ceres-Chiron square demand that people not shoot themselves in the region of the body where Chiron received his wound, they further mandate that in life one not vote against one’s best interest.
Ceres retrogrades within Capricorn until 25 August. On 6 July, she opposes the Sun in Cancer, marking the halfway done point of her retrograde cycle. This date also represents a perfect launch date for any project that one may define as a campaign of advocacy. Certainly, this pattern also represents a huge measure of realizing one is “healthy” both in the context of the physical and emotional being, and within the mundane, economic dimensions of life.
On 20 September Mars in Cancer opposes Ceres in Capricorn. These neighboring planets both possess an abrasive edge and a known testiness toward anything person, place or thing that present conditions of obstacle status. A word to the wise: Use only as much grease as grinding gears need - no over lubricating. Similarly, avoid the urge to push beyond the breaking point... those elements of life that may break under extreme exertion are unlikely to be repaired successfully. Get clear on your inner charge and how that relates to forcefulness, especially that perceived by others. Grind, push and assert only to the point where your fine objectives manifest.
A few days following the United States presidential election, 7 November, Ceres still in Capricorn squares Chiron in Aries once again. Given past portends present, this looks like another messy few days to determine the final outcome of the voting. On the personal and more global level, this planet-centaur combo urges everyone to reassess where they are, where they want to be, and what might be required in terms of personal declaration to ensure the world and those in it understand where one intends to go. A perfected statement of ones end game certainly fits the aspect’s suggestions.
Next up, on 21 November, Ceres from Capricorn squares Eris in Aries. At approximately the same time, Ceres trines Uranus. This is key to manifesting the best of the recent Jupiter to Uranus conjunction in Taurus. This month, Ceres retrogrades short of exacting a trine to both the gaseous planets. It may feel that ones persistent pleas and chants are heard, but not sanctioned. It is at this time in November, with the trine of Ceres to Uranus that events unfold that indicate that previous perceptions of exclusion may not have been accurate. Going through the next few months, strive to perceive when acknowledgment of proclamations occur. At that point, stop pushing, relax, regroup to perfecting the minutia of all your pitch decks for life, and know that your clarity and commitment can, in fact, unlock the door to the inner sanctum of life in which you have been craving access. Think in terms of tempo, rhythm and grace within all elements and aspects of your approach to your adamancy within personal advocacy.
Finally, as 7 December arrives, having been in Capricorn since the end of the first week in February, Ceres enters Aquarius. Virtually immediately, Ceres conjoins Pluto. This is huge. Here it is important to recognize that forces at odds with one another want the same thing. In the mythic example between Ceres and Pluto, they shared the desire for the exclusive attention of Persephone/Core. Should any elements of life feel divergent and ultimately opposing, seek out the commonality of cause. It does exist, no matter how contrary it may initially appear. When recognized, convert the agendas of all parties to approach conditions ahead with the aspired agenda of “for the good of all.”
